Rowan University CAP Program

CAP Registration for Rowan University begins in January 2025

The Lenape Regional High School District has partnered with Rowan University (RU) through a College Accelerated Program (CAP) which offers students taking selected World Language courses an opportunity to earn both high school and college credit.  Your student is enrolled in at least one course which qualifies as a RU CAP.

Students selecting to take CAP courses have the opportunity to earn high school credit, as well as RU credit.  These courses are taught during the regular school day by members of the Lenape Regional High School District staff.  Students who would like to receive college credits will be required to complete the RU registration process and pay RU tuition. Rowan University reserves the right to discontinue dual enrollment at their discretion.

Here are a few facts to consider when deciding to register for RU CAP credit:

  1. Each CAP class is $75 per credit; 3 credit class is $225.
    1. No other additional fees (textbooks or activity fees) will be collected.
  2. Many colleges, both in-state and out-of-state, accept credit earned through a CAP program.
  3. CAP is not intended to replace the Advanced Placement program (although a student choosing not to test for AP credit could earn RU CAP credit if applicable).
  4. Students should sign up for CAP credit if they have a reasonable expectation of earning a “C” or better in the course. RU will only grant credit if the student earns a “C” or better.
  5. Students may only register for courses they are currently taking this school year.
  6. Registration is final; payment for CAP classes is non-refundable. Additionally, RU will not refund students who drop a RU CAP course, get a grade lower than C in a RU CAP course, or if a college does not accept CAP credit.

RU credits are widely accepted by colleges and universities nationwide. It is recommended you research the policies of colleges you are considering and find out if your CAP credit will transfer; as well as how the grading process/GPA is applied to a student who is enrolling with CAP credits.

Rowan University will submit a final transcript, upon request, to any higher education institution.

CAP Courses

If LRHSD course is eligible for more than one RU course, you can choose one or more of the RU course equivalent.

For Example:  French 3 HON student is eligible for RU FREN02.101 and FREN02.102, but if student has previously taken French 2 and received credit for FREN02.101 then would only want to register for FREN02.102.
