Aeronautics Club Mrs. Donna Hill dhill@lrhsd.org The Aeronautics club is for students who enjoy making model planes and rockets. 
African American Club Mr. Davon Loeb dloeb@lrhsd.org This is a club for students who wish to appreciate and celebrate the diversity in our school and community, working toward better understanding of differences and similarities among people.  There are opportunities for both school and community service activities, as well as leadership conference offerings.  You will help Shawnee maintain the No Place For Hate designation.
Art Club

mgessman@lrhsd.org This club is open to all students.  They work on independent projects as well as school installation projects. A101 and A102. 
Asian Club Mrs. Christina Boehmke cboehmke@lrhsd.org A group of students interested in many elements of Asian culture, including Asian history, geography, food and art forms.  Meetings will take place at least monthly and will consist of some of the following topics:  reading or viewing Asian film, art and/or literature, cooking/eating Asian cuisine, listening to guest speakers or student presentations regarding a variety of Asian cultural issues.
Biology Club     The club discusses current science topics and creates science projects.
Buddies Group Ms. Jennifer Stevens jstevens@lrhsd.org Buddies Club gives all members of the Shawnee community an opportunity to take time out and have fun with a diverse group of students.  Why go home and watch TV alone when you can have fun and snack with us monthly?
*Chess Club Ms. Doris Baratti dbaratti@lrhsd.org Students meet after school for hotly-contested matches and competitions and compete against other schools.  *This is a competitive club where students are eligible to earn varsity letters.
Chorus Mr. Robert Joubert rjoubert@lrhsd.org Choral concerts, competitions, and assembly programs are all within the scope of the Shawnee Chorus and Shawnee Singers.  Both groups may be scheduled as a class during the regular school day. 
Community Service Ms. Nicole Croge ncroge@lrhsd.org Offers students opportunities to contribute to the community.  NOTE:  This group does NOT require the participation fee. 
Concert Band Mr. Nick Rotindo nrotindo@lrhsd.org Concert Band is a class for students who play an instrument (wind or percussion) and read music. Attention will be given to development of techniques, intonation, sight reading, tone production and playing experience as a member of a performing ensemble. This group meets only during the regular school day with the exceptions of two dress rehearsals and two concerts in December and May.
*Debate Team Mr. Zachary Baer zbaer@lrhsd.org The Debate Team is comprised of four varsity members and two alternates.  There is an active junior varsity program.  Debates are once per week for ten weeks in the South Jersey Debate league.  *This is a competitive club where students are eligible to earn varsity letters.

Environmental Club Mrs. Kelly Banks kbanks@lrhsd.org An Environmental club that studies environmental issues through education, workshops, and local activities. 
*FCCLA Ms. Ashley Gerber agerber@lrhsd.org To promote personal growth and leadership development through Family and Consumer Sciences education. Focusing on the multiple roles of family member, wage earner and community leader, members develop skills for life through: character development, creative and critical thinking, interpersonal communication, practical knowledge, and career preparation.  *This is a competitive club where students are eligible to earn varsity letters.
French Club Mrs. Andrea Mangold amangold@lrhsd.org The French Club allows students to take language learning out of the classroom to continue to experience the French culture.  Guest speakers, food sampling trips to restaurants, and visits to museums and theatres further enrich this cultural experience. 
Future Educators of America Ms. Katherine Dieker kdieker@lrhsd.org Students will investigate different careers in education and will have the opportunity to travel to local elementary schools.
Gay/Straight Alliance Ms. Brenna Atmore batmore@lrhsd.org The purpose of high school is to mold today’s students into tomorrow’s adults by instilling in them qualities of respect, appreciation, and non-prejudice.  The overall purpose of any Gay/Straight Alliance is to help combat homophobia and gain acceptance of homosexuality and homosexual issues within the student body. Gay/Straight Alliance GSA is a safe support group for anyone who believes that discrimation against people because of their sexual orientation is wrong.  It is for Straight, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, or Undecided students.  All students are welcomed. Activities during the school year have included: Socials, AIDS Walk, Day of Silence, Workshops, Discusion Groups, Battle of the Bands, etc.
German Club Ms. Evagelia Lyras elyras@lrhsd.org The German Club is an extension of the classroom promoting the exploration of German culture.  One of the most popular highlights is the sampling of German cuisine by cooking and consuming various German culinary delights.  Other activities include Niklausabend, Oktoberfest, Declamation Contest, and Filmabend.  At least one charity event per year is planned.  One need not be a German student to participate. 
History Club Mr. Eric O'Neill eoneill@lrhsd.org The History/Politics Club meets once a month to discuss current affairs and issues and puts them in a historical context.  The club keeps track of elections and current events both nationally and internationally.  Issues are debated, brief videos are viewed, and all people and viewpoints are welcome!

A club sponsored by a local rotary club.  This is a community service organization.  Special events are planned to raise money for needy people everywhere. 

Italian Club Mr. Dave Master dmaster@lrhsd.org The Italian Club allows students to take language learning out of the classroom to continue to experience the Italian culture.  Guest speakers, food sampling trips to restaurants, and visits to museums and theatres further enrich this cultural experience. 
*Jazz Band Mr. Nick Rotindo nrotindo@lrhsd.org Jazz Band is our second jazz band and is a class for students that play trumpet, trombone, saxophone, bass, guitar, drum set, or piano. The group performs standard big band literature. Auditions for the upcoming school year takes place in late May. Attendance at jazz festivals on select weekends in Febuuary, March, and April are a requirement of this course.  *This is a competitive band where students are eligible to earn varsity letters.
Jazz Ensemble Mr. Nick Rotindo nrotindo@lrhsd.org Jazz Ensemble is our top jazz ensemble and is open to 10th -12th grade students that play trumpet, trombone, saxophone, bass, guitar, drum set, or piano. The group performs standard big band literature. Auditions for the upcoming school year takes place in late May. Rehearsals are on Tuesday after school starting in late November and ending when Spring sports start.  Attendance at jazz festivals on select weekends in February, March, and April are a requirement of this course.
*Knowledge Bowl Team Mrs. Amy Felix afelix@lrhsd.org Teams of students assemble to compete with other schools in four Jeopardy-like tournaments.  Tryouts are held in October.  *This is a competitive team where students are eligible to earn varsity letters.
Latin Club Ms. Brenna Atmore batmore@lrhsd.org The Latin Club aims to promote elements of the ancient roman culture at Shawnee High School.  Activities include mythology tournaments, annual saturnalia banquets, toga making and an afternoon film series among activities.  You need not be a Latin student to join.
Literary Magazine Mr. Jon Posch jposch@lrhsd.org Students form an editorial board and read short stories, poetry, and other writings submitted by the students (artwork is also included).  Students are responsible for editing, layout, and typing.  The magazine is by the students, for the students.
*Marching Band     The Marching Band performs at football games, pep rallies, local and national parades, and other functions.  In addition, the Renegade Band performs a full schedule of competitions.  The Marching Band meets in the fall and rehearses after school and in the evenings.  *This is a competitive band where students are eligible to earn varsity letters.

*Math League Mr. Joseph Aromando jaromando@lrhsd.org There are two leagues.  One is a mail-in league where students come after school to take a test and then have their results sent.  The other league travels to compete directly with other schools.  Both leagues compete six times throughout the year against 13 other schools in the county.  *This is a competitive club where students are eligible to earn varsity letters.

This organization promotes appropriate recognition for students who reflect outstanding accomplishments in the areas of scholarship, character, leadership and service.  Students are eligible for consideration during the fall of their junior year with a minimum unweighted GPA of 3.25 and a required number of school activities and community service hours.  Other requirement specifics can be found on our website.

The school newspaper is a product of student work from start to finish.  The staff learns the basics of newspaper writing, which is then utilized in creating news stories.  The staff types up each story and creates the newspaper format on computer.  Other areas of interest include working with computers and layout and design. 
Pit Orchestra Mr. Nick Rotindo nrotindo@lrhsd.org This ensemble performs the live accompaniment for the school musical held in late February or early March.  An audition is required.
Renaissance Club Ms. Angela Miller amiller@lrhsd.org Renaissance is a process that encourages academic excellence, improvement, and citizenship.  The club’s primary goals are to increase student performance and teacher enthusiasm and raise the level of community participation in schools.

pblouch@lrhsd.org The Iron Devils Robotics Team are members of the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC,) which is a unique varsity sport of the mind which challenges teams and their mentors to solve a common problem in a six-week timeframe using a standard “kit of parts” and a common set of rules.  The competition challenge changes each year and the robots weigh around 120 pounds, depending on that year’s rules.  Details of the game are released on the first Saturday in January, and the teams are given six weeks to construct a robot that can accomplish the game’s tasks.   *This is a competitive club where students are eligible to earn varsity letters.

Student Council is the student government for Shawnee High School.  Representatives are elected from each homeroom.  One does not need to be a homeroom rep to volunteer for committees.  Everyone’s help is welcomed.  Major activities include a food drive, blood drive, homecoming activities, Mr. Shawnee Pageant, and other fund-raisers and activities throughout the year.
Student Athletic Trainers Mr. Kip Patterson kippatterson@lrhsd.org Students are dedicated to helping all athletes in times of injury.  These students perform many hours of medical service for our athletes.  NOTE:  This group does NOT require a participation fee.

"Students Actively Concerned" is a club designed to foster citizenship and give back to the community.  SAC plans 3-4 events throughout the school year with the special needs students at Shawnee, planning fun events such as baking, cooking, painting, and fun interactive games throughout the school year. We also see where there is a need in the community and plan a way to assist and bring joy to others.

Tech Crew Mr. David Frank dfrank@lrhsd.org Shawnee's Tech Crew strives for excellence on a daily basis, spending time during lunch and learn as well as after school meetings to improve our skills, abilities, and techniques for the theater and live performance programs at Shawnee. We are a student-driven program that assists in the fall play, winter musicals, concerts, and other live events from speeches to Mr. Shawnee. 
*Technology Student Association Mrs. Stefani Kirk skirk@lrhsd.org The Technology Student Association (TSA) is a national student organization created to develop skills in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) and business education. TSA's aim is to develop leadership, academic, and business management skills in the workplace among students and leaders within the community. The organization has over 300,000 members. The Renegade chapter focuses on completing various technology projects during our meetings throughout the year and competing in the state competition at TCNJ in the spring.

Wellness and Nutrition Club Mrs. Rebecca Edds redds@lrhsd.org This Wellness and Nutrition club is geared to students who are interested in achieving and maintaining optimum levels of health and fitness.  There will be both a nutritional and physical component to this group.
Wind Ensemble Mr. Nick Rotindo nrotindo@lrhsd.org Wind Ensemble is offered to advanced instrumental music students that play woodwind, brass, or percussion. All students must audition for the class and will be recommended by the director for admission into the course. Emphasis is on advanced instrumental techniques, performance of wind ensemble literature, and preparation for regional band and college auditions.  The group performs at two concerts per year and at Teen Arts in March.

Students help plan, design, and edit the Shawnee Yearbook.  This includes writing copy, taking photographs, and developing artwork that will become the finished product.  Students also help to sell ads to reduce the cost of the yearbook and help distribute yearbooks at the end of the year.
